Hardeep Singh Puri who is the Union Minister of Civil Aviation, stated that government wants to sell Air India as a commercially viable going concern and it will not extend the bids deadline beyond August 31, 2020.

The government of India has extended the deadline to bid for Air India for the third time until August 31, 2020. The extension has been made due to the outbreak of Covid-19, which has impacted global economies. Now the last date for intimation to qualified bidders has been extended till September 14, 2020.
