Air India, one of the prominent airlines in India has announced that they will be offering one free change of flight or one free rescheduling of flight to the customers until March 31, 2022. On the other hand, IndiGo, the largest airline in the country has said that it might cut up to 20% of its flights in the coming months due to the COVID-19 scenario and that is why it is offering one free change of flight to the customers.
This is a better option for the airlines as for any flight that is cancelled, the customers might be motivated to change their date of travel instead of trying to claim a refund for the cancelled flight. IndiGo will also allow free change of travel dates to the customers who have booked their flights within March 31, 2022.
AirAsia India Also Announced Similar Offer
Just a few days back, AirAsia India had also announced a similar offer. With AirAsia India, customers can change the date of their travel without any additional charge if their travel date is within March 31, 2022. Further, the AirAsia India flight ticket eligible for the offer needs to be booked within January 31, 2022.
The airlines are going ahead with this move because they have no other option. All the airlines are anticipating many cancellations of flights with the COVID-19 situation worsening. Hopefully, the scenario eases quickly and the airlines can come back to their feet as soon as possible.
