Besides the low-cost airline award, AirAsia clinched the top spot for the World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew for the third year in a row. For the unaware, the World Travel Awards (WTA) are said to be the most prestigious, comprehensive and coveted honours programmes in the tourism industry.
AirAsia Names as World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline
For seven years in a row, AirAsia managed to grab the leading low-cost airline title at the most prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA). This shows the domination of AirAsia when it comes to providing affordable services to travellers. There are some airlines like IndiGo and Vistara, which focus on providing premium services, but AirAsia, as an airline looks to provide services on everyone’s budget.
The 26th Edition of World Travel Awards (WTA) programme was held at Oman capital Muscat on November 29. Besides the leading budget airline tag, AirAsia was also awarded as the World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew as well. This is the third year in a row for AirAsia to bad the low-cost cabin crew airline.
Both the awards were presented to AirAsia Group Head of Cabin Crew- Suhaila Hassan who was the former Cabin Crew member at the same airline, but he’s now leading close to 6,000 Cabin Crew members.
AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes said, “We are thrilled to be recognised as world champions, yet again, by industry watchers and the most discerning of travellers. These awards are a testament to our dedication to excellence in air travel. I want to thank our Allstars and cabin crew, who continue to live and breathe our value, which is to be “guest-obsessed.” This recognition comes as we renew our commitment to becoming more than an airline, with expanded travel offerings on airasia.com to better deliver value to our guests and meet their ever-growing expectations of us.”
AirAsia Started its Operations Two Decades Ago
To recall, AirAsia is one of the oldest airlines in the aviation sector. The airline has been around for two decades now. AirAsia began operations with just two aircraft operating in Malaysian domestic routes. Back then, AirAsia’s cable crew size was just 30, but it has now been expanded to nearly 6,000. AirAsia also confirmed that it’s flying over 90 million guests each year.
World Travel Awards Founder Graham E. Cooke said, “AirAsia continues to set the benchmark for low-cost aviation in Asia and beyond. Its dedication to improving its services remains unrivalled and I am delighted that it has been acknowledged by both the travel trade and the public having been voted ‘World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline 2019’ and ‘World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew 2019’.”
