AirAsia India is all set to commence daily direct services on New Delhi – Chandigarh route from August 1, 2019.

The flight would leave Delhi airport at 10.40 am every day and would arrive at Chandigarh airport at 11.50 am. The return flight would depart from Chandigarh every day at 12.50 pm and arrive in Delhi at 1.55 pm.

AirAsia India also plans to introduce an additional flight on New Delhi-Bengaluru route. The airline’s New Delhi-Bengaluru flight will commence from August 5, 2019. It already has three flights on the route.

AirAsia has 32 flight departures from New Delhi to various destinations.

AirAsia India plans to expand fleet size

Meanwhile, AirAsia India plans to expand its fleet size to 30 by the end of 2019. It may lease nine narrow-body aircraft Airbus A320 in the upcoming months, claimed a report by Financial Express.

AirAsia received eight slots of the grounded Jet Airways at Mumbai. The airline is also awaiting regulatory approval to begin international operations.

In June 2019, AirAsia reported a passenger load factor of 90.7%, slightly higher than 87.8% it reported in May 2019. The airline came second in On-time Performance (OTP) with 85.1% as per the report of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) released in June 2019. It also reported 2.33% of cancellation rate.

The domestic airlines carried 706.80 lakhs passengers during Jan-June 2019 against 684.83 lakhs during the corresponding period of the previous year, thereby registering a growth of 3.21%.

AirAsia India is a joint venture between Tata Sons and Malaysia-based AirAsia Berhad.
