American Airlines is the world's largest airline when measured by fleet size. The airline has made it clear that all the passengers are supposed to be wearing masks at all time. American Airlines has asked the passengers to wear a mask whether they are on-board or on the ground. Only children below the age of 2 years are allowed to travel without masks. The airline announced that it will be compulsory for all the passengers to wear masks starting from July 29. American Airlines also said that passengers not wearing masks will not be allowed to travel. To further add, the airline will not allow passengers with any documented medical exemption.

American Airline To Stick To A Strict Mask Policy
Alison Taylor, Chief Customer Officer of American Airlines said, "according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention one of the best ways we can slow the spread of COVID-19 is to wear a face covering. Customers and team members have been clear that they feel safer when everyone is wearing a face covering. In light of this important feedback, we are expanding and enhancing our requirements onboard and at airports.”
“Only customers under 2 years old will be exempt from the new face-covering policy. No other exemptions will be granted, even for those with verifiable medical conditions, due to the safety risk of asymptomatic COVID-19 transmission by customers without face coverings. If a customer cannot wear a face covering, they will not be able to travel on American,” said another spokesperson from American Airline.
Most of the airlines based in the US made it compulsory for the passengers to wear masks since flights resumed in late April. At the same time, the government has not made wearing masks compulsory, thus it was difficult for the airlines to impose a compulsion. But all the airlines joined together to make strict policies for the safety of people.
Numerous countries have already regularized mask-wearing as a safety measure. It is highly important for airlines as well to keep a check on the same amid the global pandemic. Although the medical agencies from around the globe have said that the mask is not a permanent solution to the virus. But, it lowers the chances of people getting infected by the virus.
