Bangalore Airport Avails AirAsia Passengers Biometric Boarding

Web Stories

Technology has become a big part of everything that we do today. It has made things simpler and faster to go through. One place where we still feel like technology should take over already is airports. No one likes standing in the long queues at the airport. Be it for collecting boarding passes or for the security check-in, there is a long line every time. To solve that issue, Bangalore Airport installed biometric-based self-boarding technology at the airport. Now Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore has also extended the services of biometric-based self-boarding technology to the low-cost carrier AirAsia.

AirAsia Passengers Now Get Self-Boarding Facility at Bangalore Airport

All the digital passenger processing takes place with the help of Digi Yatra. It enables the process to take place seamlessly. Right from registration to boarding, nothing takes a lot of time. Digi Yatra is a part of an initiative taken by the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation. It allows the passengers to be automatically processed based on the facial biometric systems placed at the airport. These systems are placed at different checkpoints at the airport. The ONE-ID biometric platform installed in the Bangalore airport is developed by Vision Box. Now AirAsia passengers are allowed to check-in and board through the biometric system as well.

Sunil Bhaskaran, CEO & MD of AirAsia India said, “The implementation of biometric recognition systems are quickly proving essential to enable safe, convenient and contactless travel experiences. To enable enhanced safety and security for our guests, AirAsia India has collaborated with BLR Airport for the implementation of the Digi Yatra facility. Digi Yatra services are another step in our continuous focus on leveraging technology to redefine the new norms of travel with emergent solutions that alleviate the guest experience and enable social distancing.”

One of the major issues of social distancing is also solved with technology. It does not only make the travel process faster and simpler but also makes it safe for the passengers. This facility will be certainly appreciated by the AirAsia traveller flying during these uncertain times.
