As reported by TNN, a British Airways (BA) aircraft flying to London on Saturday was denied take off within seconds of rolling from Mumbai airport runway as a problem occurred with the left engine. The pilots immediately aborted the take-off to keep all the inflight passengers safe. Fire engines were rushed to the runway area as soon as the problem broke out.
According to the airport source, “Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft operating flight BA-134 launched from Mumbai terminal’s runway 09 around 1.00 pm at an estimated speed of 150 kmph experienced an engine failure and the pilots immediately decided to abort the take-off and aircraft came to a halt resulting in the exiting the runway through a taxi track.”
A passenger name Bharat Vasani partner of leading law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas who was travelling in BA 134 noted “The aircraft suffered violent jerks. It aborted take off at the eleventh hour on the runway.
After the incident BA said that the aircraft returned to stand after the mark of a minor technical issue however the flight departed at 5.00 pm.
