Chandigarh airport is all set to have enhanced connectivity as the Summer schedule for the flights kicks off on March 29. With this new schedule, the city will now get direct connectivity with popular domestic destinations like Goa, Patna, Surat and Chennai thus increasing the ease for the flyers boarding their flights from Chandigarh. The number of flights which take off from Chandigarh have also been increased from 32 to 65, which is more than double. But, amidst all of this, there is one thing that Chandigarh residents will not like and that is the absence of any more international flights. Although the airport has the permission to operator 24x7 since last year, the flights to Dubai and Sharjah are the only ones connecting Chandigarh to international waters.
IndiGo to Operate 28 Out of 65 Flights
IndiGo, which flies a flight from Chandigarh to Dubai, is also set to resume its services on the route on February 15. To recall, the flight was on hold because of poor visibility since December 14. It is also worth noting that out of the 65 proposed flight for the summer schedule, IndiGo will be operating a total of 28 flights. Some of the destinations which IndiGo will cater include Goa, Chennai, Surat and Patna. The flight to Goa will take off past mid-night and another low-cost carrier, GoAir will also operate a flight from Chandigarh to Goa.
Flights to Goa Give Ease to Passengers
People are of the opinion that the direct flight to Goa will boost tourism. Before this, the passengers had to take a connecting flight fro Delhi to reach Goa, as per Vaneet Sharma, who owns a travel agency in Sector 17. Also, there is expectations that Chandigarh airport might get more international flights in October once the advanced instrument landing system CAT-3 is installed. IndiGo’s flight to and from Goa, Surat and Chennai will begin on March 29.
