Delhi Airport New PTS System to Ensure Lesser Wait Times

Delhi Airport’s new PTS is installed in Terminal 3 of the airport. Since only two terminals of the airport are active: Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, where the latter predominantly handles more number of flights; the new system has been installed there only.

The PTS will record all movements of the passengers anonymously through its sensor. This will allow the airport operators to track several key performance indicators (KPIs) such as passenger throughput, process time, and waiting time.

This will allow the airport to identify which parts of the process take a lot of time and exactly where passengers spend most of their time. It will allow the operator in solving the bottleneck caused at the airport.

Passengers will find PTS installed in several parts of the airport such as arrival pier junction, check-in hall, and more. The operator said that it had installed the Xovis PTS after thorough testing of it. DIAL believes that the system will make the passenger flow at the airport more efficient and allow better social distancing to be maintained.

With more and more flights adding up every month, the airport's domestic passenger count is increasing. Even the international flights are expected to start operating soon, and it would mean a further need for such a tracking system. Thus it is a good move from the Delhi Airport and will be beneficial for the operator in the long-run.
