The first of Delta Airlines’ new Airbus A321neos took to the skies on Friday morning, taking passengers from Boston to Los Angeles. By 2027, Delta expects more than 150 of the planes to arrive from Mobile, Alabama. The planes will initially be deployed from Logan Airport in Boston to domestic destinations such as San Francisco, San Diego, Denver, and Seattle.
Delta began acquiring A321neos in 2017, and the order was recently increased to 155 planes. Delta Air Lines anticipates receiving twenty-five A3210neo jets this year. Delta will operate 282 A321 family aircraft by the end of the decade, in addition to its vast Airbus A321ceo fleet.
Mr Nair reiterated the message on Friday, highlighting the plane's ecological credentials and renovated cabins. "Delta's A321neo product will deliver a superior premium travel experience for our customers in Boston and around the country," he said.
N501DA, Delta's newest in-service aircraft, took off from BOS about 08:45 on Friday on a cross-country flight to San Francisco (SFO), arriving around 12:15. The plane was part of Delta's DL1202 service, which employed Boeing 757-200 flights till today. On Friday afternoon, the aircraft will fly DL1708 back to Boston.
Delta promises a better overall cabin experience, including an industry-leading domestic first-class seat. Passengers will have to judge whether Delta's new narrowbody front seats in the A321neo are comparable to American Airlines' well-regarded first class seats on the Airbus A321T. The new Delta flights have seating for 20 passengers in first class, 52 passengers in Delta Comfort Plus, and 132 passengers in economy.
