Emirates airlines, the flag carrier and the largest airline of the United Arab Emirates have announced a new virtual reality (VR) app. This app’s purpose will be to let passengers or customers experience the airline’s cabin from the couch of their home. Emirates will enable people to navigate through its Economy, Business, and First-Class cabins directly through the new VR app. The airline will further let the customers experience other stuff such as onboard lounge and shower spa on the A380 aircraft. For the unaware, the A380 aircraft of the airline also has a ‘Premium Economy’ cabin and the airline is currently working on updating the app to a new version which will include that as well.
Emirates Creates VR Experience for Users to Let Them See Cabin from Their Homes
The airline has created all these VR experiences for the users in partnership with Renacen. These experiences can be found directly on the website of the airline or its mobile app or directly on the Oculus Store as well.
The iOS and Android applications along with the airline’s website all provide users with the option to see stuff in web VR, 3D, and also get a 360-degree view of the aircraft. There are a total of 20 different configurations across the airline’s fleet which comprise 777 and A380 aircraft; all of this will be available for the customers/passengers to see and experience directly from the comfort of their homes.
This is certainly a next-level step from the airline and one that many customers will appreciate. With the help of this VR technology, people from different countries can experience the aircraft of Emirates as well. This is something that’s indicative of the kind of future that customers are going to experience when they travel with an airline. It will be interesting to see how other airlines follow up with this move from Emirates.
