Finnair is the flag carrier and largest airline of Finland. The airline and its subsidiaries dominate over the domestic and international air travel in Finland. Finnair resumed its services earlier this month after the lockdown was lifted. Finnair along with the resumption of its flights has also restarted some of its additional services like Helsinki Lounge and inflight food services. Karim Al-Soufi, Vice President of Customer Service at Finnair said, “Travelling can feel different than before, with changes in services and new types of procedures in place, such as the mandatory use of a mask on our flights. However, we are delighted to be able to bring back familiar elements of our valued customer service while still taking good care of the hygiene and safety of our customers and staff.” The lounge in Helsinki Airport restarted its services on July 1. However, the airline has some limitations regarding the same. The lounge welcomes passengers only based on the Finnair’s flight schedule, that is between 6-10 AM and 2-8 PM. The lounge is limited to a certain number of people, so as to follow social distancing norms. Also, the lounge has restricted the supply of foods and beverages. Other lounges in the airport remain closed.
Finnair Provides Passengers With Clean Kit In The Flight
Finnair is providing its passengers with “Clean Kit” while boarding the flight. Clean Kit consists of an information card, sanitizer and wipes. Finnair said that the wipes and information cards are from Finnish forestry fibers, whereas Kyro Distillery is supplying sanitizers to the airline. Kyro Distillery is a Gin making company, which is now also producing alcohol-based sanitizers. The artwork in the packets of the Clean Kit is designed by Reeta Ek, a Finnish artist.
New Baggage Policy
Earlier, Finnair allowed a bag size of 56x45x25cm in the cabin. However, keeping social distancing in mind, Finnair has reduced the permitted bag size. The new permitted bag size in the cabin is 55x40x23cm so that the bag can fit under the sit. The weight limit for the Economy Class remains 8kg and for the Business Class, it is 10kg.
Finnair will serve coffee, tea, juice and water in short-haul flights, whereas passengers in long-haul flights within Europe will have a hot meal in business class and cookie and cheese sandwich in Economy class.
In the Intercontinental flights, Finnair will serve two meals with a variety of beverages in Economy and Business class. And, a “simplified three-course meal” for the passengers in the Premium cabin.
