In collaboration with GrabbnGo, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai, is launching a new food ordering service by which the passengers can order the food and get it delivered at their boarding gates, or can be self-picked en route to the gate. The service that will launch in June 2019 will be available at both terminal 1 and terminal 2 of the airport.
According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, the new development is a result of a recent survey conducted at Mumbai airport which found that 90% of the frequent flyers are forced to skip their means due to the tight schedule.
To address this issue, the airport and GrabbnGo decided to introduce the new food ordering service that will allow the passengers to experience the convenience of their food of choice being delivered to them directly at their boarding gates, especially during peak hours, the report quoted an unnamed airport official.
The passengers have to order food beforehand from one/multiple outlets under a single invoice and payment. The service will be delivered via a mobile application by scanning QR code, or through kiosks set up at the airport. In the app, users can spot the eating outlets along the route from security checks to the boarding gate with/without taking detours. Passengers can also collect the food from the express takeaway counters of the outlets. The mobile application will be available for both Android and iOS users
The mobile application also includes brands offering food for the health-conscious to grab food of their choice and as per their diet, as they board their flight, a release from the airport stated.
The technology allows stores to receive the order through their patented JITO (Just in Time Order) algorithm pushing the order to the store ensuring passengers get their food hot and fresh, irrespective of the time when the order was placed, the release stated. The service will also be open to incoming passengers.
GrabbnGo is an established brand known for its association with various food brands present at airports such as KFC, Subway, Pizza Hut, Burger King, etc.
