The prestigious SKYTRAX World Airport Awards 2022 crowned Hamad International Airport (HIA) the "Best Airport in the World" for the second year in a row at the global event Passenger Terminal Expo in Paris, France. For the seventh year in a row, the airport has been named the "Best Airport in the Middle East."

The rankings were determined by passenger satisfaction and votes provided by air travellers across 39 key performance factors for airport services and products, including check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security, immigration, and exit. HIA was named the best airport in the world, beating out 550 others.
