Hindon airport has been inaugurated for seven months now. The airport which is situated beside the IAF’s Hindon airbase has seen no flights till now. However, things are about to change now as we have got the update about the first flight that will take off from the Hindon airport in a few days’ time. A nine-seater plane operated by private airlines, Air Heritage will take off tomorrow from the Hindon airport and will fly to Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district. The flight has been scheduled to take off at 1 PM on October 11, 2019.
As per the information charted out on the airline’s website, the journey from Hindon to Pithoragarh would take approximately 60 minutes and the flights would operate 6 days a week except on Thursday. There will also be a return flight from Pithoragarh which will take off from the Pithoragarh airport at 11:30 AM. The private airline has also announced that after the successful launch of its inaugural flight, it also plans to start flights to Dehradun and Shimla.
Heritage Aviation, CEO, Rohit Mathur told ANI, "A 9-seater aircraft will take the first flight to Pithoragarh from the Hindon airport on October 11. The fare for the flight has been kept at Rs 2,500. After this, we are planning to launch flights for Dehradun, Hubli, Shimla, Faizabad, Gulbarga, Nasik and Coonoor among other popular destinations.” It is worth noting that the Hindon airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 8, but the airport has not seen any flights since then. The start of Hindon airport will help in reducing the air traffic from Delhi airport and would also help the passengers from Western Uttar Pradesh in saving some time.
