India’s low-cost airline IndiGo is offering free cancellation insurance as an add-on-service on its flight tickets. The passengers who are between the age of 03 months to 70 years travelling within India are eligible to apply for Indigo’s flight ticket cancellation insurance. Liberty General Insurance company powers this insurance for IndiGo. The insurance covers a gamut of benefits and coverage, including lifestyle assistance, cancellation assistance, accidental death coverage, trip cancellation extension and permanent total disablement.
Scope of IndiGo free ticket cancellation insurance
Under the lifestyle assistance provided as a part of the insurance, IndiGo will give personal assistance to offer services through phone call. The airline will also assist the passenger for ticket cancellations and other queries related to cancellation.
The trip cancellation extension offer under the insurance will help the insured passenger to claim a reimbursement of prepaid air ticket charges that are non-refundable. However, such cancellation must occur one day (24 hours) before the scheduled departure date from the place of residence/origin. The amount of reimbursement will be up to Rs. 5000.
There is an accidental death coverage available as a part of the scheme. The legal heir(s) of the passenger will get up to Rs. 5 lakhs, in case of the death of the insured. In cases where the insured passenger sustained grave bodily injuries resulting in total disability, the person can get up to Rs. 5 lakhs as monetary assistance. The passenger has to fill the nominee details, who will be treated as the legal heir of the insured passenger for the purpose.
The free cancellation insurance is available on IndiGo’s website while booking tickets. Only Indian residents taking tickets for domestic air travel are eligible for the insurance.
