IndiGo Ranks Fifth in Safety
The rankings come from AirlineRatings.com which has noted that number of factors are taken into account while gauging the safety of an airline and these factors include “audits from aviation’s governing and industry bodies, government audits, airline’s crash and serious incident record, profitability, industry-leading safety initiatives, and fleet age,” The site has ranked other airlines above IndiGo and these include Air Arabia (UAE), Flybe (UK), Frontier (US), and HK Express (Hong Kong). The other five in the list are JetBlue (US), Volaris (Mexico), Vueling (Spain), Westjet (Canada), and Wizz (Hungary).
IndiGo: Biggest Airline in India
Talking about IndiGo, the carrier is undoubtedly the most popular one in the country with close to 50% market share and a fleet size which surpasses 250 flights. The carrier is flying 1,500 flights in a day. Although the carrier ran into some technical glitches with mid-air engine shutdowns with P&W engines this year, the airline is on the task of replacing all the engines on its fleet. As for the other safe airlines across the world, Australia’s Qantas airline has been ranked on top with perfectly clean records in the entire jet era. Some other top safest airlines across the world include, Air New Zealand, EVA Air, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Alaska Airlines.
