After taking the 1000th Airbus A320neo family aircraft in 2019, IndiGo now takes the delivery of the 2000th A320neo family aircraft from the aeroplane manufacturer. Fuel efficiency and performance are the reasons for IndiGo to rely on the Airbus A320neo fleet, according to Ronojoy Dutta, Chief Executive Officer at IndiGo.

“The vision was not only to increase the efficiency, but also the sustainability of the fleet. The continued induction of Neo family aircraft despite the challenges posed by the pandemic is a testament to IndiGo’s unrelenting commitment to sustainable aviation,” Ronojoy Dutta, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, said.

According to Airbus, A320neo delivers 20% reduced fuel burn and 50% less noise compared to previous generation aircraft. It has a seating capacity of up to 240 passengers, depending on the cabin configuration. The A320neo Family features the widest single-aisle cabin in the sky. The A320neo Family is assembled at Airbus’ four global sites -- Toulouse, France; Hamburg, Germany; Tianjin, China and USA.

IndiGo Goa-Coimbatore flight

In another development, IndiGo started a direct flight to Goa from Coimbatore. The maiden flight took off on Wednesday from Coimbatore airport at 1.45 am. Around 40 passengers availed the flight to Goa on its first trip. The return flight from Goa to Coimbatore landed at the airport at 5.05 am and had 66 passengers on board.

Authorities expect a hike in the number of passengers in the coming days as Goa is a party destination. With Christmas and New Year approaching soon, more people may visit Goa.

IndiGo Coimbatore-Tirupati flight

IndiGo has also agreed to launch services on Coimbatore – Tirupati route from December 16. The bookings look positive on Coimbatore – Tirupati flights, according to IndiGo. However, the return flight from Tirupati to Coimbatore is yet to gain pace.
