Announced this Monday, India’s top class and most beloved airline, IndiGo showed a positive two-fold jump in their profit numbers. The carrier showed a profit of Rs 496 crores for the December quarter, which was higher than the previous year’s results which stood at Rs 185.20 crores in the same quarter. In the event of regular filing, the carrier marked that revenue for the quarter rose to about 25.5% which was around Rs 9,931.70 Crores on 19.3% increase in their overall capacity during the quarter.
IndiGo Expands Their Network Operations
On the event of Profit declaration, CEO of IndiGo Ronojoy Dutta Marked that “The carrier started their operations in 7 new international routes along with 17 domestic routes and increased their daily departures during the quarter. On average, the airline was operating 1,634 flight departures during the whole quarter. Not only this, seeing the exponential growth by expansion of operations, the management is pleased with their network expansion along with connecting smaller cities to and provide different choices to their passengers. To add more the carrier has added cities like Shirdi and Shillong to our network while expanding their network operations to larger towns like Hanoi and Guangzhou."
IndiGo’s Passenger Ticket Revenue Rises
During the announcement, the carrier also noted that their passenger ticket revenue rose up by 24% to Rs 8,770 crores. IndiGo also revealed their cash balance amount, which stood at Rs 20,068 crores. The total cash balance included Rs 9,412 crores of free cash, whereas Rs 10,656 crores were a part of restricted cash. To ensure expansion projects function smoothly without any hassle, IndiGo also added 12 new aircraft during the quarter. IndiGo’s available seat kilometres (ASK) which is considered as passenger-carrying capacity is also expected to rose 20% in the fourth quarter.
