The United States (U.S.) airline groups are not at all happy with the arrival of C-band 5G services in the country. According to an NDTV report, an airline group will tell U.S. lawmakers that it will likely take years before the interferences caused by the 5G networks can be removed.

The issue is that the aircraft altimeters use spectrum in the 4200-4400 MHz while the spectrum for 5G C-band services in the U.S. is very close to the frequencies used by the altimeters. For the unaware, altimeters are really important aircraft equipment for the pilots as they help with landing when the visibility is low. Altimeters help the pilot in understanding the height at which the aircraft is flying at.

Thus, any interference with the altimeters could result in flight delays, accidents, and disruption of flight services for the entire country.
