Kannur International Airport Finishes One Year of Operation, CM Inaugurates New Lounge, Wi-Fi Services

One of the most prominent airports which were inaugurated in India last year included the Kannur International Airport (KIAL). Today, the airport has finished its one year of operations in the country and on this occasion, Chief Minister of the state, Pinarayi Vijayan, said that people’s participation in the development of the project is very imperative. He also urged the Malayalis, and the non-resident Malayalis to invest in the regions around the Kannur International Airport (KIAL). The CM also remarked that there is a lot of scope for development after the airport became operational and it would get a further boost once the Azhikkal Port also becomes operational.

He also added that as the land acquisition is going on, there would be more industries coming up in the region, either related to or not related to the aviation industry. With this, he also added that to realise the full potential of the development, it is also important to keep the roads to the airport should be fully developed as well, in which direction work is already going on. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also unveiled fighter aircraft, MiG-27, given by Indian Air Force to the airport near the parking area of the airport. The aircraft had taken its last flight in Kannur and was ten dismantled to put up for public display. 

KIAL International and Domestic Connectivity

Other facilities were also inaugurated which included passengers’ lounge at the international terminal, art gallery in the lounge, free Wi-Fi facility, and more. It is also worth noting that Kannur International Airport connects many important routes and cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and many International destinations as well like Dubai, Jeddah, and Damman.
