Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) is all set to resume operations post lockdown period. Since the government extended the lockdown period until May 03, 2020, to combat Covid-19, the airport authorities are taking all the precautionary measures which would ensure safe air travel. Mumbai Airport has made some standard procedures for the passengers and airport staff which will ensure safety from the deadly virus. The Airport has made special quarantine centres at both its terminals. Not only this, but Mumbai Airport has also made all the arrangements which would encourage social distancing among passengers and airport staff. Here are the measures that are taken by Mumbai Airport for post lockdown operations.
Disinfecting the Airport Premises
CSMIA Staff will disinfect and sanitise the entire Airport Premises to ensure the safety and well-being of the passengers. Also, to ensure that Air travel is safe, Mumbai Airport will put passengers through thermal screening, and they will have to wear compulsory masks and gloves as safety norms. Apart from this, the Mumbai Airport will direct the passengers to keep a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from each other and follow social distancing norms. In case if any passenger will show symptoms of Covid-19, they will be taken to the special quarantine facilities developed by Airport.
Social Distancing will be the New Normal
Since no vaccination has been developed to cure Covid-19, the government has advised people to follow social distancing as it is the only method which can stop the spread of the virus. To encourage social distancing in Airport premises, Mumbai Airport has made distinctive markings at the entry gate, check-in counters, food courts, lounge area and the boarding area to minimise physical contact. Apart from this, the Airport will also encourage passengers to check-in from their home or office and use digital payment method across food outlets and retail stores to eliminate physical contact with the person.
