Mumbai Airport Brings RT-PCR Tests for Departing Passengers

As of now, the Mumbai airport conducts around 100 COVID-19 tests every day. The facility of RT-PCR testing was made available at the airport on September 6, 2020. But it was only for international passengers arriving at the airport. It was only later that the service was extended for domestic arrivals too.

For departing passengers, the testing facility is located at the curb-side of the Level 4, Terminal 2. The test results will take around 8-12 hours to come out and it will be mailed to the passenger’s registered ID. If the passenger wishes to get a physical copy of the result before departing, then he/she can book a slot for testing in advance.

Up until now, a total of 3,340 passengers have been tested. The 38 passengers who tested positive were referred to institutional quarantine. The number of daily tests is going to increase from 100 to a higher number very soon as the travel increases.

Meanwhile, Adani group might be starting their project of the Mumbai airport by focusing on the Terminal 1B of the airport. It won’t be a reconstruction which will increase the passenger capacity. But the focus of the Adani group will be on improving the structural strength of the terminal. Mumbai Airport has raised concerns over the structural strength of Terminal 1B earlier so Adani group can’t really ignore it.
