Air travel admits the time of global pandemic – coronavirus outbreak is a dangerous thing. Till the time India is in a lockdown, no commercial operations can take place. But what happens when the lockdown is removed? This is why new flight safety rules and regulations have been requested by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for when the airlines start flying passenger aircraft. The CISF submitted its request to the aviation ministry with a new finalised protocol so that gathering of the crowd at airports and planes can be avoided.

The Proposed Changes By CISF

The new protocols suggest that the passenger must reach the airport two hours before his/her airport so that time for proper screening of health can be possible. The passenger must carry his/her protective gears such as 100-ml sanitisers, gloves, and masks. There is also a request from the aviation ministry to guide airlines to leave the middle seats vacant so that distance can be maintained. CISF has also asked for the development of ‘sanitising tunnels’ which can be placed at the entrance of the airport. In addition to this, the crew will also provide the passengers with sanitiser once everyone is seated.

IndiGo Ready To Introduce New Rules When Operations Resume

IndiGo is also going to introduce changes to its services whenever it resumes. The CEO of IndiGo, Ronojoy Dutta, wrote to his employees that the airline would be stopping all of its onboard meals for a temporary period. In addition to this, the airline won’t fill its buses more than 50% of its capacity to ensure that crowding doesn’t take place. IndiGo has also said that it won’t be accepting bookings until April 30, 2020, even if the lockdown is removed. The airline is working hard on making the travel as safe as possible for its passengers.
