Passengers on a US airline cheered as a flight attendant informed that masks are no longer required on flights, as shown in a video that has gone viral online. As a flight attendant announced the elimination of the mask mandate, passengers on a Delta Airlines aircraft clapped and cheered.
After US President Joe Biden's mask mandate for aircraft and other public transportation was taken down by a federal judge, the footage surfaced online. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) stated it will not enforce the order following the verdict, according to Newsweek, and numerous airlines indicated that wearing masks on flights is optional.
Due to a court judgement issued on Monday, the mask mandate on airlines was lifted two weeks ahead of its May 3 deadline. The CDC in the United States has extended the expiration date for masks on aircraft and other forms of public transportation by 15 days. The order, however, is unlawful, according to District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, since the agency did not fully explain its reasons for the demand or seek public comment before issuing it.
Travelers on buses, subways, trains, ferries, and other kinds of public transportation were compelled to wear masks under the government order. Many airlines are no longer enforcing the rule now that it has ended.
