Qantas Resuming Several Domestic Airport Lounges from December 2

Web Stories

The flag carrier and the most popular airline of Australia, Qantas, is all set to resume several of its domestic airport lounges from December 2, 2020. The resumption would include various Qantas Clubs across Australia together with the already open Business lounges in Sydney, Perth, and Brisbane. In Melbourne, Qantas is planning to reopen its Business lounges. But at the same time, the Qantas Clubs will remain closed in Melbourne because of the restrictions that the government has set in place for the number of guests at any venue.

Qantas Reopening Airport Lounges for Passengers

As per a report from Executivetraveller, the Australian flag carrier will allow Gold-grade passengers of the Qantas Club along with its Oneworld Sapphire counterparts enter the Business lounges. It is worthy to note that the airline usually reserves the Business lounges for Business class flyers and Platinum-grade flyers.

But this is a desperate move by the airline because if the Business lounges are to stay open, the Qantas Clubs will have to stay shut. Or else there would be too many people at the airport. That is why, in the meantime, the airline is accommodating select Qantas Club passengers into the Business lounges even if they are not Business class flyers or Platinum-grade flyers.

Chief Customer Officer, Stephanie Tully, Qantas said, “At Melbourne we’ll have to follow whatever restrictions are in place due to Covid-19. With Victoria continuing to do a fantastic job containing the virus we’re hopeful that restrictions will continue to ease and we’ll be able to open our Melbourne Club lounge soon.”

Even the invitation-only Qantas Chairman’s Lounges present at Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney will open in early December.

Qantas Airport Lounge Experience

Even though the passengers will get to access the Qantas lounges back in domestic airports again, the experience wouldn’t be the same. No self-serve buffets, drinks, snacks, or any other kind of services will be provided to the passengers in the same manner as it used to be. Only cold-dishes will be handed over to the passengers from the ‘serviced snacking station’ introduced by the airline.
