Qatar Airways grabbed the top spot at the 2019 Skytrax Awards 2019. It is the fifth time that the airline is achieving this feat. The airline also grabbed the titles for World’s Best Business Class, World’s Best Business Class seat, and Best Airline in the Middle East.
“It is a proud moment for the airline as our constant innovation and service standards set the benchmark in our industry,” said Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker.
Singapore Airlines followed Qatar Airways, and also won awards for World’s Best Cabin Crew, World’s Best First Class, Best Airlines in Asia, and World’s Best First-Class Seat.
Other airlines that occupied positions in the ‘Top 10 Best Airlines’ list are ANA All Nippon Airways (3rd position), Cathay Pacific (4th position), Emirates (5th position), EVA Air (6th position), Hainan Airlines (7th position), Qantas Airways (8th position), Lufthansa (9th position), and Thai Airways on 10th position.
Among the budget airlines, Air Asia won the title for World’s Best Low-Cost Airline. Japan Airlines won World’s Best Economy Class and the World’s Best Economy Class Seat titles. IndiGo won the Best Low-cost Airline award in India/Central Asia.
British Airways won the title for Best Airline Staff in Europe and UK, and also won the title for the Most Improved Airline in Europe. From the United States, United Airlines won the World’s Best Business Class Lounge award. In North America, Air Canada won the title for Best Airline in the region. It also bagged the award for World’s Best Business Class Lounge Dining. Best In-flight entertainment award went to Emirates. EVA Air bagged the award for being the World’s cleanest airline.
The awards were distributed in the sidelines of Paris Air Show. Being a customer-voted award, Skytrax Awards are known to be prestigious in the aviation business.
