Budget carrier SpiceJet and the audio and visual expert Dolby have teamed up to provide better audio experiences for travellers 38,000 feet in the air in Dolby Atmos. The passengers can now experience Dolby Atmos-enabled content, such as blockbuster movies and podcasts.

SpiceJet's inflight entertainment (IFE) system is SpiceScreen, built by MojoBoxx, an Indian technology start-up. To fulfil the content requirements, MojoBoxx has worked with content experts like Eros Now & Earshot and extended their content library with blockbuster Bollywood films and podcasts in Dolby Atmos exclusively for SpiceJet flyers.

According to Debojo Maharshi, Chief Marketing Officer, SpiceJet, Dolby's revolutionary immersive audio technology Dolby Atmos will add to the entertainment quotient on SpiceScreen. According to Debojo Maharshi, most Indian flyers prefer to watch Bollywood, regional flicks, original series, and podcasts.

Pankaj Kedia, Managing Director, Emerging Markets, Dolby Laboratories, expressed his excitement in associating with SpiceJet and MojoBoxx. He said that the association with SpiceJet and MojoBoxx is an excellent opportunity for Dolby to cater to its audiences both on the go and when they fly.

For MojoBoxx, this is a milestone as it has become Dolby's first digital partner in the sky in India. The partnership is expected to bring the cinema-like experience to the sky for the first time in the history of inflight entertainment in India with Dolby Atmos.

SpiceJet launched SpiceScreen in 2020. The flyers can download and access the SpiceScreen app on their smartphones, tablets and iPads, and enjoy content spanning from movies, shows, stand-up comedies, and podcasts.

It contains proprietary carbon tuned circuitry weighing only 181 grammes and is capable of sending dedicated data speeds of more than 70 Mbps for buffer-free streaming.
