SpiceJet has introduced its latest In-Flight Entertainment services for its passengers. The new IFE services which will be called “SpicEngage”, will be free-of-cost for all SpiceJet flyers. The low-cost carrier has recently introduced this service for the travellers, wherein they will be able to stream content on their personal electronic devices (PED). It is noteworthy that Jet Airways and Vistara has recently announced its latest in-flight streaming services called JetScreen and Vistara World on some of its aircrafts. The new service by SpiceJet arrives on a similar pattern. Currently, the SpicEngage IFE service has been launched by the airline for select full-service carriers.
SpiceJet Officials on “SpicEngage”
Ajay Singh, chairman and managing director of SpiceJet also made some comments during the launch of the carrier’s latest service. He said "The launch of our new in-flight entertainment system, SpicEngage, will vastly improve the on-board experience of our flyers. Passengers can now use their own phones and tablets on board SpiceJet to watch their favourite shows, play games, read and do much more.”
How to Use SpicEngage Different from Traditional In-flight Entertainment
Unlike the in-flight entertainment services being provided by Jet Airways or Air India, SpicEngage will allow the passengers to stream or download content on their personal electronic for viewing. The service will allow the travellers on-board to explore categories across watching, playing, exploring, reading and even eating. Before this the only way to provide in-flight entertainment to travellers was to do so by a screen, however, that has changed with the introduction of streaming services which allow the passengers to access the content on their own device.
As of now, SpiceJet is offering the IFE service on a complimentary basis. However, since the carrier has introduced SpicEngage on a low-cost model it remains to be seen whether or not SpiceJet sticks to the complimentary model, and if yes, then for how long.
