Ahmedabad Airport via Twitter has announced that the airport will be closed for runway re-carpeting every day for nine hours from January 17, 2022, to May 31, 2022. The work would go on around nine hours every day from 9 AM to 6 PM.
"Runway maintenance is to ensure aircraft safety and increase runway life. Runway maintenance closures are mandatory procedures in line with international safety standards. Therefore, all the relevant stakeholders under the guidance of the safety regulator are consulted and given abundant notice to revise schedules in order to ensure minimal passengers' inconvenience. We are committed for best services to the passengers with safety", they tweeted.
To ensure that passengers don’t face a lot of inconveniences, the airport officials are revising the flights and their timings. If you are travelling to or from the Ahmedabad Airport soon, it would be wise to check up with your respective airline about what’s the scenario with your flight.
It is worth noting that the re-carpeting work was earlier scheduled for November 2021. But due to the festive season, the airport couldn’t go ahead with the project and it has started in January 2022.
