AirAsia has been awarded as the World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline at the World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Finals on November 29. AirAsia has bagged this award for the seventh year in a row. AirAsia says the company reached the top spot after receiving the most number of votes from industry professionals and travellers. Besides the low-cost airline award, AirAsia clinched the top spot for the World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew for the third year in a row. For the unaware, the World Travel Awards (WTA) are said to be the most prestigious, comprehensive and coveted honours programmes in the tourism industry.
AirAsia Names as World's Leading Low-Cost Airline
For seven years in a row, AirAsia managed to grab the leading low-cost airline title at the most prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA). This shows the domination of AirAsia when it comes to providing affordable services to travellers. There are some airlines like IndiGo and Vistara, which focus on providing premium services, but AirAsia, as an airline looks to provide services on everyone's budget.
The 26th Edition of World Travel Awards (WTA) programme was held at Oman capital Muscat on November 29. Besides the leading budget airline tag, AirAsia was also awarded as the World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew as well. This is the third year in a row for AirAsia to bad the low-cost cabin crew airline.
Both the awards were presented to AirAsia Group Head of Cabin Crew- Suhaila Hassan who was the former Cabin Crew member at the same airline, but he's now leading close to 6,000 Cabin Crew members.

AirAsia Started its Operations Two Decades Ago
To recall, AirAsia is one of the oldest airlines in the aviation sector. The airline has been around for two decades now. AirAsia began operations with just two aircraft operating in Malaysian domestic routes. Back then, AirAsia's cable crew size was just 30, but it has now been expanded to nearly 6,000. AirAsia also confirmed that it's flying over 90 million guests each year.
