SpiceJet has announced the launch of 20 new daily domestic flights, most of them connecting Mumbai with metro and non-metro cities. There are new services to destinations such as Trivandrum, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kolkata, Patna, etc. The new services will be launched from May 26-30.
SpiceJet’s new services are said to be open for booking from its official website. SpiceJet has taken the slots vacated by the grounding of Jet Airways to provide the services. The flights from Mumbai will hence depart from Terminal 2 of the airport.
SpiceJet has made a series of new flight announcements since April 1, precisely 106 new services. 73 of the 106 new services connect places with Mumbai, 16 of them connect Delhi, and eight flights are launched between Mumbai and Delhi.

Indian aviation industry reported a significant fall of capacity after Jet Airways’ grounding, prompting the Government to re-allocate Jet Airways routes to its rival air carriers. Air India got most of the international traffic rights, but airlines such as IndiGo, Vistara, SpiceJet, and GoAir benefitted in terms of new routes. With the grounding of Jet Airways, the international airfares are 15-20% higher compared to the previous years. The high airfare has also resulted in less number of passengers.
Meanwhile, aircraft leasing company BOC Aviation has revealed that it has released three Boeing B737-800 NG aircraft to SpiceJet. “We are pleased to extend our relationship with our long-standing customer, SpiceJet, and to support its expansion in the vibrant Indian market,” Robert Martin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BOC Aviation, said.
India has been one of the most rapidly growing major airline markets in the world, and SpiceJet is well-placed to capitalize on this trend, he added.
SpiceJet operates 569 daily flights to 62 destinations, among which 53 are domestic, and nine are international. It has a fleet size of 95 aircraft.
