Wadia Group owned, GoAir which is fast growing no-frills carrier has been without proper higher management for quite some time now. However, the budget airline has now brought industry veteran, Miranda Mills, as its chief operating officer. It is worth noting that Mirana has extensive experience in the aeronautical industry and has formerly served as an executive of Airbus and Rolls Royce. It is also worth noting that Miranda will be heading GoAir in a crucial time as the company is planning for an initial share sale this year. The airline also told PTI that Miranda will be reporting to managing director and chief executive Jeh Wadia.

GoAir and Its Controversy With Higher Level Management Execs

To recall, GoAir was in the headline a few months back as Cornellis Vriewijk, the previous chief operating officer had resigned citing “family reasons” after leading the airline for only about nine months. What’s caught the eye of the industry followers is that since July last year, as many as 15 high-level management personnel have left the airline for various reasons. Since last July, COO, Jyri Strandman left due to differences with the management. Similarly, chief commercial officer Manish Ranega too left the within two months. What’s even more strange is that even though the airline has kept these positions open, nobody has accepted them.

On being questioned why the top-level management couldn’t make a stay for long at these positions, GoAir said that it "maintains and encourages high standards of performance across all levels. As per our internal standards and on their review, some of these executives were found wanting on critical performance parameters and were asked to leave with due process."

Not only this, but many Vice Presidents have also left the airline in a very short period and these include names like vice-president for assets, contracts and procurement Borno Mundaca who left in August last year, marketing vice- president Saurabh Grover in October, and company secretary Nikhil Vohra in November.

Miranda Mills Takes the Rein of Operations at GoAir

Miranda Mills, on the other hand, has a degree from the University of Glasgow in Aeronautics and is a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society with a career spanning over 25 years in the aerospace industry. She has been with Airbus for 16 years and was also sales vice-president for commercial aircraft division for South Asia and has held many other roles before that. At GoAir, Miranda will assume her position starting August.
