Dholera International Airport

The Dholera International Airport is a part of the Dholera Special Investment Region of Gujarat government. It is located approximately 100 km south-west of Ahmedabad. The airport project valued at Rs 2000 crores, will be built on 1700 acres of land. The airport, once completed, will decongest the saturated Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is designed to handle 7 million passengers per annum, but the airport has been managing 11 million passengers every year. The proposed Dholera International Airport will have the capacity to handle 50 million passengers annually.

Besides decongesting Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, the airport will also help other nearby regions of Rajkot, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Kheda, Nadiad and Anand in Gujarat.

The first phase of Dholera International Airport is expected to complete by 2024. There will be two runways for the airport, where the first one will get completed in the first phase. The airport will be well-linked to the city’s transport system.

The proposed Dholera Special Investment Region of Gujarat is going to be India’s first world-class, futuristic city. The city will surpass the size of Singapore and will bring state-of-the-art facilities. The state government is investing Rs 20,000 crore for the complete Dholera Special Investment Region project.
