India’s budget airline SpiceJet has announced that it will shift its Mumbai operations to Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport from October 1, 2019.

“From October 1, SpiceJet’s entire operations at the Mumbai airport will be consolidated at T2. A single terminal operation would not just help us substantially cut down its costs but provide passengers with a seamless and smooth travel experience as they transit between domestic and international flights at one of the country’s busiest airports,” Ajay Singh, chairman and managing director, SpiceJet said in a statement released to the media.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dr GVK Reddy, Mr GV Sanjay Reddy, Mr RK Jain and the entire MIAL team for the steadfast support, cooperation and encouragement they have provided to SpiceJet,” Ajay Singh added.

Meanwhile, in New Delhi, SpiceJet is shifting its operations to Terminal 3 from Terminal 2 from September 5, 2019. The shifting is a result of the expansion works to be held at T2.

Commenting on the terminal shifting at IGI Airport, Ajay Singh said, “With this (shifting), our flight operations would be restricted to just two terminals – T 1 and T3 – of the Delhi airport. This move will enhance the convenience of passengers travelling with us and provide them with greater comfort and ease in transiting between domestic and international flights,” he added.

IndiGo is another airline shifting its operations at Delhi airport to T3. However, this will be a partial shifting. GoAir, on the other hand, will continue its domestic operations from T2 terminal. Air India, Air Asia India, and full-service carrier Vistara operate entirely out of T3 terminal.
