Vistara to Double International Destinations This Year, Plans to Connect London and Northeast Asia

The only private full-service carrier in India, jointly owned by Tata Sons and Singapore International Airlines (SIA), Vistara, is all set to increase its international destinations by double the current figure in 2020. This report comes from IANS. In conversation with IANS, Vistara CEO, Leslie Thng said that the airline plans to double the number of its international destinations that it connects with India. Currently, Vistara has connectivity to countries like Singapore, Dubai, Bangkok and Colombo. The airline is also all set to establish connectivity with Nepal by flying a new flight to Kathmandu.

Long Haul Flights to Join Vistara in February

Although, it is worth noting that the flights to these countries utilise the short-haul aircrafts which Vistara currently has. The long haul flights which would include aircrafts like the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner would join the Vistara fleet in February. After this, the airline will be beginning service to Europe and northeast Asia which would also depend upon the regulatory clearances which Vistara receives. Vistara was also asked about whether or not it would be starting a flight to China, Japan or South Korea to which the carrier responded that there is a potential in Northeast Asia.

Vistara to Also Grow its Fleet

Vistara has recently stepped into international waters in August 2019, with Singapore as its first destination and then adding Dubai and Bangkok. Vistara has also hinted that it will start a service to one of the airports in London. Further, in February, the airline will start a service to Kathmandu, connecting the national capital, Delhi to the capital of Nepal. Vistara’s fleet is also set to grow to 42 planes by the end of the next month. In February, it will also receive the delivery for the Airbus A321 along with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. With the induction of the Boeing, long haul flight, Vistara is also likely to become the first carrier in the Indian airspace to bring in-flight Wi-Fi for the passengers in partnership with NELCO.
