Travelling anywhere during the time of COVID19 pandemic is not safe. Air travel, on the other hand, is the safest way to travel. There is a reason behind it. Airport authorities are very strictly checking people’s temperature and asking them to follow social distancing. Along with this, every airline is very particular about the passengers they are allowing to fly. Travelling rules and procedures have been modified to ensure that a flight is safe for both the passenger and the crew. Vistara has also laid out a plan and has asked passengers to follow it. Here is everything that you should know about travelling with Vistara for the foreseeable future.

Vistara On-Ground Precautions

Let’s start with all the on-ground precautions that Vistara is taking. First of all, when you enter the airport, your temperature will be noted. Vistara will ensure that luggage trolleys are properly sanitised. You must go with web check-in only for your flight as the airline has stopped physical check-in. Print your boarding pass yourself. Airport counters will have barricades in front of them to follow social distancing. The passenger will place the luggage in the belts to him/herself. In the boarding gate and ladder, strict social distancing rules will be maintained. Along with all this, Vistara will provide customers with a personal protective kit at the boarding gate and it will consist of a face mask, sanitiser, and face shield.

Important Things You Must Know

All of the Vistara staff will have PPE (Personal Protective Gear). Check-in counters for your flight will close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure. Passengers must reach the airport 2 hours before their flight. No large handbags will be allowed on-board except essential carry-ons. As for the check-in baggage, a maximum of only 1 bag is allowed. All payments for the tickets will have to be made online. Boarding gates for Vistara flights will open 60 minutes before the departure and close 20 minutes before the departure. Thermal screening will take place in the boarding gate as well.

Ensure that you have installed Aarogya Setu app on your devices. For you to board your flight, you must have a 'Green' status in the Aarogya Setu app. Along with that, you must carry a self-declaration form as it is necessary for the check-in and travelling process. You can carry your own PPE. Vistara is allowing sanitisers less than 100 ml on its flights. Practice high hygiene and follow all the social distancing norms. Maintain a distance of at least 1 meter with other passengers at all times.

In-Flight Precautions

All the Vistara aircraft will undergo a deep cleaning process after every flight or 24 hours. All the aircraft will have gloves, surgical masks, contact-less infrared thermometers, and sanitiser wipes. The cabin will also have HEPA filters which clear out 99.99% of the bacteria, fungi, and virus (including the coronavirus) in every two to three minutes. Customers sitting on the middle seat of the aircraft will be provided with an extra safety gown.

Vistara cabin crew members will follow social distancing norms as well. Along with passengers, the airline will constantly monitor the temperature levels of its crew and pilots. For the Economy Class passengers of the airline, tea, coffee, water bottles/cups and on-board meals will be discontinued. The same will be for Business Class and Premium Economy class of the airline
