Vistara Bags ICMG Global Architecture Excellence Awards For Passenger Assisting AI Robots in IGI Lounges

India’s full-service carrier, Vistara, jointly owned by Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, recently bagged the ICMG Global Architecture Excellence Awards 2018 at the Architecture World Summit 2018 which was held in New York, USA. To recall, Vistara had recently introduced robots at airports which were the first of its kind technology and were installed to assist the travellers. Courtesy of these robots, Vistara was awarded in the categories of Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Enabled Solution and Customer Centricity & Excellence categories. The jury which presented the award to Vistara was headed by Mr John Zachman, who is also known as the Father of Enterprise Architecture. It is worth noting that in front of the jury, Vistara’s robots were pitted against some of more cutting-edge innovations from around the world.

Commenting on this new achievement of Vistara, Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer, of the airline said, “We are happy to receive this recognition for an innovation that truly reflects Vistara’s steadfast focus on transforming the experience for air travellers.”

Vistara Leverages AI to Provide Better Customer Service

The ICMG Global Architecture Excellence Awards are a way to award innovation and technology-oriented solutions on architecture, and the shortlisting process for these awards is an elaborate and stringent one which includes four rounds of showcasing technology expertise, deep domain understanding, an overall vision for the industry and also a case study presentation at Architecture World Summit. On this occasion, Mr Ravinder Pal Singh, Chief Information & Innovation Officer, Vistara, said, “At Vistara, we are very upbeat about leveraging AI and other technologies to drive innovation that would make air travel a truly seamless and joyful experience.”

It is worth noting that in the past decade the ICMG Architecture Awards have gained global acclamation and are deemed to be very prestigious since they honour excellence in the Enterprise and IT Architecture. The award witness participation from over 30 countries every year.

Airline to Improve Robot to Work on More Complex Commands

Vistara’s robot did not make only bag awards from ICMG, but the technical feat also fetched the airline an appreciation from ET NOW as ‘Excellence in Leveraging IT for Business Performance'. Staying true to its line of a futuristic framework, Vistara installed these AI enabled robots the airline’s lounge at New Delhi’s Terminal 3, Indira Gandhi International Airport, to assist the travellers, addresses their queries and also entertains them.

The robot can rotate 360 degrees owing to the four-wheel chassis and comes equipped with three built-in cameras which allow it to facilitate cognitive interaction. Currently, the robots can perform functions such as scanning boarding passes, providing useful information about the terminal, departure gates, weather conditions of the destination city, real-time flight status, play songs, games, etc. Vistara is also working on enhancing the capabilities of the robot to make it operate on even more complex tasks.

Vistara has been the best-rated airline by Skytrax and TripAdvisor, and it serves 22 destinations with over 800 flights a week and boasts of having a fleet of 22 aircraft. The airlines has flown over 12 million customers since launch four years ago.
