Vistara Inaugurates New Mumbai-Colombo Flight, Extends Greetings to Passengers

Vistara is the only prominent full-service carrier operating in the Indian skies and the airline has been formed with a joint venture from Singapore Airlines and Tata Sons. In a new development, Vistara today inaugurated its new flight from Mumbai to Colombo. This new flight will connect India to our Southern Neighbour, Sri Lanka through Mumbai. With this new flight, Vistara has become the first carrier to offer Premium Economy and Business Class seats on this route. Before this, all the Indian carriers to Sri Lanka only used to offer economy class seats. It is also worth noting that this flight between Colombo and Mumbai would be daily except for on Wednesdays.

Passengers Greeted With Garlands and Sweets

During this inaugural flight, passengers from Mumbai were greeted with garlands and Sri Lankan sweets, and a special troupe performed the traditional Kandyan dance in celebration. Dr Sushil Kumar, First Secretary – Economic & Commerce, High Commission of India in Sri Lanka, Mr Rayhan Wanniappa, Director - Air Transport and Economic Regulation, Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka and Mr Ruwan Waidyaratne, Executive Director, Hayleys PLC were also present on the occasion.

Vistara Grows Its Fleet By Almost 50% 

In the last few months, Vistara has added many international destinations starting with Singapore, Dubai, UAE, and Bangkok, Thailand. Also, the airline has substantially expanded its fleet in the last seven months and grown it by almost 50% in this period. For its latest international destination, Sri Lanka, it has appointed, North-South Lines Pvt. Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of the iconic Sri Lankan conglomerate, Hayleys PLC, as its representation company in the country.
