Go First has become the first airline in India to connect Jammu & Kashmir directly with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to a PTI report, the Wadia group-owned airline will commence direct flight services between Srinagar and Sharjah. Go First will be using an Airbus A320neo in the concerned route. On Saturday, the airline operated its maiden flight G8 1595 which departed from Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport in Srinagar at 6:30 pm.

Initially, the airline will operate four weekly flights between the said route. This move from Go First is said to boost trade and tourism between the UAE and Srinagar. It will also give a convenient travel option to the people living in these two cities.

“Having been in operations here for over 15 years, the airline shares a special relationship with the region and is committed to its growth. We are delighted to be the first airline to connect Jammu & Kashmir with the UAE and it bears testimony to our commitment to the region,” said Kaushik Khona, Chief Executive Officer, Go First.
