Wadia group owned carrier, GoAir had recently announced the beginning of its international services from Bengaluru, and Sunday, December 9th marked the first day of GoAir’s international flight to Phuket and Male. The no-frills carrier, GoAir has been proclaimed to be the fastest growing carrier in the world right now and has also recently added the newly operational Kannur International Airport in its existing network as its 24th domestic destination.
GoAir's A320 Neo Aircraft Takes Off to Phuket and Male
On Sunday, the first GoAir flight to Phuket and Male was inaugurated by the customary ribbon cutting and cake cutting ceremony. Also, to mark the first day of the flight, the passengers of this flight were greeted with gifs and personal reception from the GoAir staff. Not only this but living up to the popular tradition in aviation, the flight was given a grand water cannon salute in Phuket International Airport and Velana International Airport respectively.
To facilitate this new international service, GoAir is using the Airbus A320 Neo aircraft and starting today, GoAir has also announced the commencement of a direct flight between Bengaluru – Phuket –Bengaluru, 3 times weekly and direct service between Bengaluru – Male – Bengaluru sector 2 times weekly.
Bengaluru-a Key Market: GoAir CEO
Chief Executive Officer of GoAir, Mr. Cornelis Vrieswijk said during the launch of this new service, “Bengaluru is a key market for us and this is the third strategic launch after Mumbai and New Delhi to have commenced international operations on GoAir’s network. We are certain that leisure travellers from Bengaluru and neighbouring cities will be delighted by our convenient connections to Phuket and Male.”
GoAir also announced the flight schedule to its two new international destinations. We noted that the flights to Phuket, which take off three times in a week and started today, i.e. December 9 are slated for departure in the morning, while the flights to Male, which take off twice a week, have been scheduled for afternoon and evening respectively. To recall, only a few days ago GoAir had announced that it would soon begin its operation from the newly operational Kannur International Airport, thus connecting it to major cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. In 2018, GoAir has grown to cover 24 domestic and 2 international destinations and now boasts of a fleet consisting of 41 aircraft including the likes of Airbus A320 and Airbus A320 Neo aircraft. With the introduction of new flights back and forth from Kannur airport, the carrier has now touched the figure of 1600 flights weekly.
