IndiGo, a prominent Indian air carrier, on Wednesday announced that it signed a 20-year pact with the Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) for its second maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility. The new MRO facility of IndiGo is in the Kempegowda International Airport and is spread across 13000 square meters. A release from the airline said that the hangar is built on five acres of land and is also the second-largest maintenance facility at the airport. The new MRO facility was inaugurated by the airline back on November 17, 2022.
SC Gupta, IndiGo's engineering head, inaugurated the MRO facility. The new hangar of the airline at the Bangalore airport can accommodate up to 2 narrow-body aircraft at a time. Additionally, the facility will have support infrastructure, including an engine QEC shop warehouse and engineering offices for all repair and maintenance work.
