In comparison to its existing schedule, Colombia's flag airline Avianca plans to raise its capacity by 20% this summer. The airline will expand its service with the addition of 13 new routes (some are new, and some are reopening following a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Let's look into it more.
New and restored routes
As the airline sector began to recover from the COVID-19 outbreak last year, Avianca introduced 19 new routes. Avianca, in particular, emerged from a Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States in 2021.
The airline plans to build on its success in 2022 by launching 13 more routes. Some are brand new, while others are being restored as global demand recovers. Avianca will introduce internal and international flights to Costa Rica, the United States, and Mexico from Colombian towns such as Medelln, Cali, and Cartagena.
Avianca's Sales Director in Colombia, Ana María Copete, stated, "We remain committed to connecting Colombia, Avianca's home for more than a century, and Latin America with the rest of the globe on a national and international level." We strengthen our presence in locations such as Mexico City, New York, Miami, and Orlando in North America; San José in Central America; and Madrid and London in Europe with the launch and reactivation of these 13 routes in the country."
