Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister of Civil Aviation, launched the National Air Sport Policy 2022 (NASP 2022). By 2030, NASP 2022 aims to make India one of the top sports nations in the world by creating a safe, economical, accessible, pleasant, and sustainable air sports ecosystem.
India has the potential to become one of the world's major air sports nations. It has a huge geographical area, varied topography, and pleasant weather. It has a sizable population, particularly among the youth. It boasts a burgeoning adventure sports and aviation culture. A start in this approach is the National Air Sports Policy (NASP) 2022. It was written with input from policymakers, air sports practitioners, and the general public in mind, and it will assure the construction of high-quality infrastructure, equipment, instructors, and services.
Speaking on the future of Air Sports in India, Scindia stated, "From a small market size of around 5,000 odd air sports practitioners creating around Rs 80-100 crore of annual revenue in India, I feel we can target over Rs 8,000 10.000 crore annual revenue and generate over 1,00,000 direct jobs. The economic multiplier benefits in terms of travel, tourism, support services and local infrastructure development will be over three times.”
