Emirates has been planning since long about setting up a route from Dubai to Mexico City, but it has been a long wait for the Gulf-based carrier. Emirates still holds the rights to offer flights to Mexico City, the carrier remarked on Sunday. However, there has been a disputed agreement by Aeromexico between United Arab Emirates and Mexico.
The Matter Between Mexico and UAE
As per a court ruling seen by Reuters, a Mexican Federal Judge remarked that a 2016 pact between Mexico and United Arab Emirates did not meet proper legal requirements. As per Emirates, the decision is being appealed. At this instance, when questioned by Reuters, Aeromexico declined to comment. On the other hand, Mexico’s Communications and Transport Minister, Javier Jimenez Espriu said that Emirates could offer flight from Dubai to Mexico, through Barcelona without any hindrance because the 2016 agreement remains valid.
