IndiGo Direct Flights from Kurnool

As per a PTI report, IndiGo’s Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer, Sanjay Kumar said that these new direct IndiGo flights from Kurnool will enhance the existing regional connectivity in South India.

It is worthy to note that these new flights are not live as of yet. They will start on March 28, 2021. Another reason Kumar noted for starting these new flights is to recognise that Kurnool being one of the capitals of the state will get a lot of traffic demand from cities such as Bangalore and Hyderabad because of the thriving industries in both the cities.

All the direct flights, Kurnool to Bangalore, Kurnool to Chennai, and Kurnool to Visakhapatnam will operate four days in a week. Kumar said that these IndiGo flights are slated to start under the UDAN scheme of the government, thus they will be eligible to receive special incentives as well. The airline will get subsidies from the government for the loss it makes when it starts a new service in smaller routes of the country.

This direct flight service from Kurnool will facilitate faster and frequent movement to the people living in South India. It will government officials and business people living in South India to travel conveniently to Kurnool and other cities.

Further, IndiGo will also connect Agra from Bangalore and Bhopal very soon. The direct flights from Agra are also slated to start from March 28, 2021. This is a flying start to IndiGo in terms of its recovery. The airline has already reached 80% normalcy and is expected to be profitable by 2022.
