Delhi Airport Terminal 2 Back in Service From Today

Delhi airport has brought back its Terminal 2 into service. Earlier when the pandemic hit and nationwide lockdown was put into place, Delhi Airport’s Terminal 2’s (T2) services were paused for the passengers. Even when the lockdown was lifted and after a few weeks domestic flights were resumed, Delhi airport authorities only resumed the Terminal 3 (T3) for the passengers. But now, T2 is open for service from today. IndiGo and GoAir had alerted the same to its passengers about the change of Terminals for its flights a few days back.

Delhi Airport Terminal 2 to Take IndiGo and GoAir Flights

From today onwards, the T2 of Delhi airport will be available for service of IndiGo and GoAir flights. GoAir had tweeted on September 26, 2020, that all of its domestic flights to and from Delhi will land and take off from the Terminal 2 of the Delhi airport from October 1, 2020. 

IndiGo as well notified its customers about the same a few days back.

Even the Delhi Airport had sent out a tweet posting a video of an IndiGo flight which arrived at the Terminal 2 of the airport. The first flight to land on T2 of the Delhi airport after the resumption of the terminal was IndiGo 6E-2487 which took off from Bangalore.

The airport staff and airline staff gave a warm welcome to the passengers travelling in the flight while at the same time ensured that all the safety protocols are being followed.



According to a dial press release, “The resumption of operations at T2 will be with 96 air traffic movements (48 departures and 48 arrivals) per day and increase progressively up to 180 by end of October.”

Post today, October 1, 2020, all of the IndiGo flights with call signs between 6E2000 and 6E2999 will land on T2 of the Delhi airport. As for the 27 airport counters in the terminal, 16 have been allotted to IndGo and the rest 11 have been allotted to GoAir.

Demand for domestic air travel is rising on a monthly basis with 28.32 lakh passengers flying in the month of August 2020 compared to the 21.07 lakh passengers flying in the month of July 2020.
