Etihad Airways to Reconnect Abu Dhabi to Medina; Announces New Flights

The service schedule has been decided keeping in mind the convenience of various religious, business and leisure travelers so that they have adequate flight options and seamless connectivity with the Indian subcontinent and Asia for those who are traveling from Medina through Abu Dhabi.

In their recent media release, Etihad Airways has announced the launch of their newly scheduled flights to the holy city of Medina. The flights will start operating from November 27th, 2021. Etihad will be using its modern two-class Airbus A380 carrier for the route beginning from Abu Dhabi and will operate three times a week.

An Attempt to Meet the Growing Travel Demand

The Vice President of Sales UAE at Etihad Airways, Fatma Al Mehairi said that the airline is looking forward to reconnecting Medina to Abu Dhabi. The city of Medina has been of great historic and religious significance for Muslims all around the globe. She said that the airline will be looking forward to fulfilling the growing demand for religious travel and strengthening the existing links between UAE and Saudi Arabia, a key travel market for Etihad.

The flight from Abu Dhabi to Medina is about three hours. The holy city is located in the Hejaz region of western Saudi Arabia. The city is of significance to Muslim pilgrims as it is home to Prophet Mohammed’s Mosque and burial site. Earlier, as the restrictions on travel due to covid 19 were eased the country has allowed full capacity attendance of worshippers at both of its major mosques in Medina and Mecca.

The passengers arriving at Medina do not require any quarantine if they are fully vaccinated. Moreover, Etihad’s wellness program allows passengers to travel without any worries because of covid 19. The program also includes COVID 19 insurance valid till March of 2022.

The flight schedule effective from November 27th,2021 has already been released by the airline. Flights will be departing from Abu Dhabi at 10:40 every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and will be arriving in Medina at 12:40. The departure flight from Medina will take off at 16:05 and will arrive at 19:25 in Abu Dhabi on the same weekdays. This schedule might be subject to change.
