IndiGo to Begin Operations at Kannur International Airport: Flights, Fares and Schedules

Following on the lines of other airlines like Air India Express and GoAir, low-cost carrier, IndiGo has also announced that it would begin its services from Kannur International Airport shortly. The Interglobe Aviation owned airline, IndiGo committed that it would add Kannur as its 67th domestic destination. The company said that this new addition of another domestic destination is in line with the company’s growth strategy. The low-cost carrier also announced that it would fly daily non-stop return flights from Kannur to Hubli, Chennai and Hyderabad. The airline added that these new flights will cater to both business and leisure travellers and would connect the city of Kannur to other domestic destinations thus strengthening IndiGo’s operations.

Kannur's Addition to Network Aligned with IndiGo's Expansion Plan

Chief Commercial Officer of IndiGo, Mr. William Boulter, said, “We are pleased to have the opportunity to fly out of the new airport in Kannur starting January 2019. Kannur will be the 67th destination on our growing network and starting operations will further strengthen the air connectivity from Northern Kerala.  IndiGo will operate daily non-stop return flights from Kannur to Hyderabad, Chennai and Hubli. These new services will benefit our customers with more flying options and will also boost tourism stemming from nearby regional destinations including Kasaragod and Wayanad in Kerala, and Coorg in Karnataka”. Mr. Boulter further added, “IndiGo will continue to expand its network to meet the requirements of both business and leisure travellers wherever they demand it. It is our constant endeavour to provide more flexibility of choice to our customers as IndiGo continues to offer them on-time, courteous and hassle-free service, and an affordable flying experience always”.

The no-frills carrier has also charted out the schedule of the new flights which would fly to and from Kannur. The first flight from Kannur to Hyderabad, 6E 7166, would take off at 9:15 AM from Kannur, whereas the return flight from Hyderabad, 6E 7167, would depart from HYD at 11:35 AM. The flight to the second destination, Chennai, from Kannur, 6E 7972, would depart from Kannur at 01:45 PM, whereas the return flight back to Kannur, with flight number 6E 7971, would leave from Chennai at 4:00 PM. Lastly, the third destination by IndiGo, Hubli would be connected by the flight 6E 7979, which would depart from Kannur at 5:50 PM, whereas, the return flight from Hubli to Kannur, 6E 7981, would depart from Hubli at 7:25 PM. IndiGo has also declared the fares for these flights and has announced that the flight to and from Kannur to Hyderabad would cost Rs 2,599, the flight to Chennai would be Rs 2,499 and lastly, the flight to Hubli would be Rs 1,999.

IndiGo has also announced that it would be operating a fourth flight between Kannur and Bangalore for which the fare has been fixed at Rs 1799. The flight no. 6E 7978 will depart from Kannur at 9:25 PM, whereas the return flight from Bangalore to Kannur, 6E 7977, will leave from Bangalore at 8:00 PM daily. The no-frill carrier has also added that it would begin its services from January 25th 2019.
