Kanpur city is served by AAI-operated Kanpur Airport (KNU) and is directly connected to four cities Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore & Gorakhpur.
Growth of Air Passenger Traffic:
Considering the growth in passenger traffic, AAI has undertaken the development work of the Civil enclave at Kanpur Airport with enhanced passenger facilities at a project cost of Rs 143.6 Crores. The development project includes the construction of a new terminal building, and an apron suitable for parking three A-321 types of aircraft.
New Terminal Building:
Built-in an area of 6248 sq. mt, the new terminal building of the civil enclave will be designed to process 300 passengers during peak hours. Equipped with all modern passenger amenities, the terminal will have eight check-in counters, and conveyor belts for arriving passengers.
Parking Facility:
A parking area has also been planned for the parking of 150 Cars.
Sustainability Measures:
The terminal building will be a Four-Star GRIHA rated energy-efficient building with sustainability features.
Local art and Heritage:
The facade of the terminal will also reflect the local art and heritage of the place, inspired by the famous JK Temple of Kanpur. The Airport development is expected to be completed by 31st December 2022.
Kolhapur Airport, Maharashtra:
Kolhapur Airport also to get a new world-class terminal building. The new terminal building is being constructed in an area of 4000 sqm and will be able to process 300 passengers during peak hours. With 10 check-in counters, the Terminal will be equipped with all modern passenger amenities. More than 60% of the work is completed and the terminal is expected to enhance the connectivity of this Industrial city.
Kanpur Airport, Uttar Pradesh:
Kanpur Airport has been identified for RCS operations under the UDAN scheme and is currently connected to Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Gorakhpur.
